Snowshoes on!

This tour is a multisensory experience. Starting in Scaleres, you head deeper into the forest where crunchy snow and clear air await you. The route takes you through  clearings on quiet forest paths, far away from the hustle and bustle. You won't find a crowded mountain hut at the top as Zirmaitalm is very quiet in winter – which is exactly what makes it all the more special. Put your rucksack down, take out your picnic and enjoy the view over the upper Valle Isarco.

The hike starts at the small car park at the Wieserhof farm in Scaleres, situated at the end of the village. From there, follow the signs towards Zirmaitalm. You can either take the shortcut on the left via forest trail no. 3 or take the wider, snow-covered road, which is a little longer, but leads gently uphill to the mountain hut. The Zirmaitalm is closed in winter, but you can take a break there in peace and enjoy your picnic. Duration approx. 2–3 hours, distance approx. 8 km, altitude difference approx. 400 m.
