AUI recommendation

How about some slow biking to discover the real South Tyrol? Wonderfully authentic and a little enchanted. The cycle path follows the valley passing through villages and meadows along the Rienza river. Cafés, swimming lakes and small hamlets line the route. You can decide on the spur of the moment how far you want to go. And if your legs have had enough? Simply hop on the train and travel back for free with the Brixen Card. It's this flexibility that we love.

A picturesque village nestled in a lush valley with a towering church steeple, surrounded by verdant hills and a clear, bright blue sky. Scenic and tranquil.

Good to know

Our favourite route starts in Rio di Pusteria and goes through Vandoies and Casteldarne on the way to San Lorenzo di Sebato and Brunico. If you wish, you can continue cycling via Valdaora, Dobbiaco and San Candido to Lienz in East Tyrol. The route is well maintained throughout. You can return at any time with the free train ticket.
Total length: approx. 105 km, duration: 6–7 hours (or sections), altitude difference: approx. 500 m, difficulty: easy.
