A small peak with a big impact! This snowshoe and winter hike around the panoramic Hühnerspiel peak is definitely one of our winter favourites.

Small but mighty!

High up

The Hühnerspiel is one of those places that is easy to underestimate – yet impossible to forget. The path leads through a snow-covered forest, which gradually opens up to reveal a small summit enjoying spectacular views. From up here, you can see the entire Val Pusteria, including the Dolomite peaks. You are overcome with the feeling of being in exactly the right place. It's balm to the soul!

Route & facts

The starting point is the Nunewieser car park situated above Terento. From there, follow the wide forest path to the Pertinger Alm mountain hut. Then continue on trail no. 5 up to the Hühnerspiel at an altitude of 2,064 metres. Once at the top, you will enjoy magnificent views over the Val Pusteria and the Dolomites. The way back takes you past the Pertinger Alm once again, where you can stop off for refreshments before returning to the starting point.
Duration: approx. 2.5 hours, length: approx. 7 km, altitude difference: approx. 500 m, difficulty: medium.
